Evolve OL - Sameji 96-99 Important game to mention about took place in . Fourth ranked Sameji (1-5) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging one of their biggest challengers Evolve OL (1-5) 99-96 in the game for the third place. Sameji outrebounded Evolve OL 40-25 including 17 on the offensive glass. Jhovanny Mets scored 24 points to lead the charge for the winners and Randy Toribio chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Five Sameji players scored in double figures. Sameji's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was Aneury Parra with 34 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and American guard DeJon Waters Jr (190-1997, college: Pitt St.) scored 28 points and 7 rebounds. Sameji left bottom position moving up to third place, which they share with defeated Evolve OL. Sameji will play against Del Patio (#4) in the next round. Evolve OL will play against the league's leader Fenix and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Hosts were edged by fourth ranked Del Patio (2-4) 92-90. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Fenix. It was a good game for American forward Ralph Bellamy (193, college: Harris-Stowe St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 10 rebounds. Brahian Mendez contributed with 29 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Guard Sammy Rodriguez (185) replied with 23 points and 4 assists and guard Dhariam Melendez (180) added 16 points in the effort for Fenix. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Del Patio maintains fourth position with 2-4 record. Fenix at the other side still keeps top place with one game lost. They share the position with Immortals. Del Patio are looking forward to face higher ranked Sameji (#3) in Santiago in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Fenix will play against Evolve OL and is hoping to win this game. Capitanes were defeated at home 93-101 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Immortals looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Edwin Espinal (198-1993) notched a double-double by scoring 26 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and American forward James Milton (203-1992, college: Stevenson) supported him with 26 points and 10 rebounds. Even 30 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists by guard Oliver Ferreira (189-1993) did not help to save the game for Capitanes. Richard Polanco added 19 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Capitanes players scored in double figures. Immortals maintains first position with 5-1 record. Loser Capitanes dropped to the second place with three games lost. They share the position with Santiago Basket. Immortals' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Santiago Santiago Max. Strangely Santiago Max outrebounded Santiago Basket 55-39 including a 26-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. American power forward Domont Wright (203-1997, college: Cleveland St.) notched a double-double by scoring 16 points, 13 rebounds and 5 blocks to lead the effort and Canadian guard Michael Tillman (195-1996, college: SUNY Adirondack) supported him with 25 points. Even 16 points and 8 rebounds by Jhoan Pena did not help to save the game for Santiago Max. Carlos Martinez (186-1998) added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Santiago Basket and four Santiago Max players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Santiago Basket maintains second position with 3-3 record having just two points less than leader Fenix, which they share with Capitanes. Loser Santiago Max keeps the second place with two games lost. Santiago Basket's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Santiago to the arena Capitanes.
